02 Cummins Valvoline Synpower Vs Royal Purple Gear Oil

Topic: Rear Stop Oil for Dodge
Posted By: 5erwonk on 01/17/07 06:45pm I've been told that the gear oil that comes stock in Contrivance Ram pickups is not adequate for tow a vehicle, everyone have input if this is the case? If and so what is the best oil to use?
Posted By: Airbus 9e on 01/17/07 06:52pm I believe it'south 75w/90 synthetic....should be fine....I've been towing with Dodge trucks for 20 years and never had whatsoever rear axle problems....

Is Trucking similar RVing?....I think and so....

Posted Past: Hannibal on 01/17/07 06:56pm What does your owner's transmission say? Mine says the fluids that come in the vehicle are adept for towing. Transmission fluid (ATF+four) and differential oil are both synthetic. I change my differential fluid every 15k with Mobil-1 75w-ninety. Mobil-1 5w-20 goes in the Hemi while Valvoline Premium Bluish 15w-xl went in the Cummins. And so far then good!

Posted Past: GaryGus on 01/17/07 06:58pm I use a synthetic 80-140 weight oil and have never had problems with the truck listed below. Please note that I live in your area and thus run in the same ambience temps you practise.

Posted By: Dave H M on 01/17/07 07:14pm well I drive one of them stinking fords, yet I use the diff oil that is specked in the books that came with the truck.

Oh and I did modify information technology at 100,000 mile marker.

Man If i lived close to someone who inverse it 6 to x times that oft I could get down the road on the used stuff [emoticon]

Posted Past: Hannibal on 01/17/07 07:39pm Dave,
I believe (IMHO) the #1 reason Dodge recommends the 15k mile differential fluid changes is in hopes we'll pay the $140 the dealership charges to modify $24 worth of synthetic fluid. But with the re-useable rubber gasket and short amount of time it takes to change it, I don't mind doing information technology.

Posted By: Ray,IN on 01/17/07 09:25pm Why would whatever vehicle manufacturer utilise a lubricant non appproved for towing loads in a vehicle with a tow package? The OEM lubricant is fine.

I did the aforementioned

I saw a TSB or a dealer discover somewhere that said if the truck owner tows regularly, supervene upon the 75w-90 with 75w-140. constructed is required either mode

Posted By: Dave H 1000 on 01/18/07 07:15am Every bit i retrieve, the all-time buy I got on the 75W140 synthetic stuff was Valvoline at NAPA.

With the 99 ford that I have y'all don't have to worry near the pan gasget, information technology does not require one nor does ford sell one for it. You only gum information technology back on [emoticon]

Posted By: hemi-kz on 01/18/07 07:21am What year and model Ram?
I simply know almost 2003, simply 1500's (and Durangos) did non come up with constructed in the rear end. The owner'due south transmission recomends irresolute to synthetic for towing. The factory make full for 2500'southward is the synthetic and is good to get for towing.

Posted By: juzplanekrazy on 01/18/07 10:26am Only installed a Mag Hytec aluminum rear diff. cover and 7.5 quarts of Amsoil 75-140. Every thing I read pointed to this combo for towing heavy.
Total toll for this mod. was shut to $400.00.

That'south just manifestly crazy!...[emoticon] Just kidding, I would dearest one of those Magazine Hytec covers.
Posted By: franklinman1999 on 01/18/07 01:32pm Why did Contrivance cull an beam that requires and so much maintenenace? A Chevy beam NEVER needs the beam oil changed. Per the owner's manual. A Dodge needs $300 worth of axle oil maintenenace every 4 - 5 moths if you drive a good amount???
Posted By: NavyDood on 01/18/07 04:22pm Wow franklin. Didn't know Chevy's had "Chevy" axles. Oh I know, Chevy must have stamped their name over the AAM name. Yous know, since AAM makes the axles for the GM's.

It's hogwash to modify the fluid in the AAM axle as much as contrivance says. If you tow you should run the 75w-140.
